About BidWut

An online auction marketplace built for fast, transparent bidding.

BidWut is an online auction marketplace. Independent sellers list timed lots — estate finds, surplus inventory, vehicles, collectibles, industrial equipment, and more — and registered bidders compete to win them in real time. The platform handles everything between the two: bid mechanics, soft-close anti-sniping, payment, pickup scheduling, and order management.

We're built for people who want auctions to feel fair and fast. Bidders see the same controls on every lot, sellers get tools that scale from one-off estates to weekly liquidation auctions, and the rules — increments, soft close, retract window, buyer's premium, sales tax — are the same across the entire marketplace.

What BidWut does

BidWut connects two sides of an auction: the seller running it and the bidders competing for its lots. We provide the listing surface, the bid engine, the payment flow, and the pickup/shipping coordination tools. We don't inspect or warehouse items; sellers do that. We're a marketplace platform, not a party to the underlying transaction.

Lots are timed (each has its own end time), bidding is binding, and proxy bidding is built in via Max Bid — set a private ceiling and the system bids on your behalf. When a lot ends with you as the high bidder, your card on file is charged automatically and the order moves into pickup or shipping.

How BidWut works (in 30 seconds)

  1. Create a free account, add a payment method, and verify your phone for security.
  2. Browse auctions on the marketplace or search by location, category, or seller.
  3. Open a lot and place a bid — Quick Bid, Max Bid, Jump Bid, or Nuke'Em.
  4. If you win, your card is charged for the winning bid + 15% buyer's premium + 8.5% sales tax.
  5. Schedule pickup through the seller's posted hours, or arrange shipping if the lot supports it.

The full bid-mechanics walkthrough is on the How to Bid page, and the platform-wide rules live in the Terms & Conditions.

Built for bidders

What you get when you bid on BidWut:

  • Four ways to bid
Quick Bid, Max Bid, Jump Bid, and Nuke'Em — each tuned for a different bidding style. The bid panel is identical on every lot.
  • Soft close
If a bid lands in the final 2 minutes, the lot extends by another 2. Last-second snipers can't steal a lot from a motivated bidder.
  • Live updates
Bids and outbid alerts stream in real time over WebSocket. No refreshing required.
  • Watch and save
Star any lot to follow it, save filter presets to revisit common searches, and favorite sellers to track their upcoming auctions.
  • Pickup or shipping
Each seller decides which lots ship and which are pickup-only. You see the option on the lot card before you bid.

Built for sellers

What sellers get when they list on BidWut:

  • Auction templates
Reuse address, pickup hours, and ad-banner config across recurring auctions instead of recreating them each time.
  • Bulk lot upload
Spreadsheet import for sellers who run dozens or hundreds of lots per auction.
  • Pickup scheduling
Configure pickup windows, slot lengths, and per-slot capacity. Buyers self-schedule from your published hours.
  • Buyer messaging
Built-in conversations between bidders and seller staff, scoped to a specific auction or order.
  • Order management
See who won what, who paid, and who's shown up — with refund and forfeiture controls when things go sideways.
  • Featured placement
Highlight signature auctions in the marketplace with featured-auction slots and ad banners.

What makes BidWut different

  • Soft close anti-sniping. A bid in the final 2 minutes extends the lot by 2 minutes. Whoever wants the lot most wins — not whoever clicked at the right millisecond.
  • Multiple bid styles. Quick Bid for hands-off increment bumps, Max Bid for proxy ceilings, Jump Bid for public commitments, Nuke'Em for one-shot leadership changes. One panel, four strategies.
  • Retract window. Made a typo? You have 15 seconds to retract a normal bid (with conditions). Most platforms lock you in instantly.
  • Same rules everywhere. Increments, premium, tax, and bidding mechanics are identical across every seller and every lot. No per-auction surprises.
  • Transparent disputes. Refund and dispute policies are owned by the seller; BidWut facilitates and can step in when direct resolution fails. We never quietly take sides.

What we are — and aren't

BidWut is the marketplace and the bid engine. Sellers are responsible for the accuracy of their listings, the condition of items, payouts to themselves, sales-tax remittance, refunds and returns, and pickup or shipping logistics. All items are sold as-is unless the seller states otherwise.

That separation is intentional: the platform stays neutral, and you always know who's on the hook for what. If something goes wrong with a specific lot, talk to that seller first. If a dispute can't be resolved between you and the seller, contact [email protected] and we'll help mediate.

Privacy and security

We collect only what we need to operate your account and the marketplace. We don't sell mobile information or SMS opt-in status to third parties for their marketing purposes. Phone verification is required to bid; SMS notifications are entirely optional and gated by a separate, opt-in checkbox you can toggle off at any time. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
